Google's Problem with "not" 🧐

Its got nothing to do with performance marketing but i bet it made you stop and read it....just like i did 😉

Martin's Musings: The Struggles of Google Search— How it is impacting your Google Ads!

So, let’s talk about something that’s been bugging me and probably many of you too—Google search results just don’t feel as good as they used to. Ever typed in a query and thought, “Why am I getting so many ads and irrelevant links?” Turns out, even the folks at Google are aware of this issue, but they’re not pointing the finger at themselves. Instead, they suggest the real problem might be the web itself.

Marissa Mayer, a former Google executive, recently explained that as the internet has grown exponentially, so has the quality of content—just not in a good way. With economic incentives driving misinformation and clickbait, it’s getting harder for Google to serve up the high-quality results we used to take for granted. Mayer basically said, “Google is just a window to the web, and if the web is getting worse, so will search.”

Add to this Google's ongoing issues with prepositions and Generative AI results and its a but of a mine field.

This got me thinking—if even Google is struggling to keep up, how can we, as marketers, adapt? What is the impact on Google Ads? For SEO quality content is the way, be crystal clear and hyper-specific in your messaging, not just to please Google’s algorithms, but to stand out in an increasingly crowded and chaotic digital space.

If you’re frustrated with search results, remember it’s not just Google dropping the ball; the entire ecosystem is in flux and AI is increasing this all the time. But where there’s chaos, there’s also opportunity—especially for those who can navigate these murky waters with precision and strategy. I have dived deeper into how the Google search results are impacting Google Ads and what to do about it in this weeks No Jargon Marketer insights blog post 👇
